For over 30 years, the midlothian animal clinic (MACVETVA) has been dedicated to caring for pets by providing superior medical attention as well as client service. Our practice is committed to the continuing education of our veterinarians and staff, the utilization of technology and a sincere concern for the welfare of our patients and clients. We support and encourage the human-animal bond through preventative care, the treatment of disease, alleviation of pain and client education.

History

In 1981 the midlothian animal clinic, a part time practice, was acquired by Dr. Owen McFadden. Hospital hours and services were expanded and in 1989 we moved to our current location in the Sommerville Office Park. In 2009 MAC underwent an expansion and full renovation which doubled our size and enhanced our ability to provide medical services and boarding to our patients.

Most of our canine patients love to visit us, however, because cats may experience anxiety during a visit to the veterinary hospital, during our renovation we added a separate entrance and dedicated cat examination rooms. Your cat will not be exposed to barking dogs while awaiting his visit, all services including check out and discharge can be conducted from this room. As a Certified Cat Friendly Practice we continually look for ways to make our feline patients more comfortable.

AAHA

Our membership in the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) helps to assure that we are meeting our goals. As an accredited hospital member, our hospital has been regularly evaluated by veterinary professionals since 1988 to ensure that we meet or exceed the associations’ high standards for veterinary care. AAHA, an international association, was established in 1933. AAHA hospitals are evaluated on over 900 standards in the following areas: quality of care; diagnostic and pharmacy; management; medical records; and, facility. Approximately 3000 veterinary hospitals only are accredited worldwide by the American Animal Hospital Association.
