CANINE INFLUENZA- H3N8
We urge you to vaccinate your dog to protect him/her from Canine Influenza (H3N8), a new virus for which dogs have no immunity. Dogs in doggie daycare facilities, dog parks, grooming facilities, boarding kennels or other areas where dogs congregate are at risk of exposure. While most cases are mild, symptoms persist for several weeks and can advance to severe infection or pneumonia in 10-20% of the cases. The H3N8 influenza has proven fatal in some dogs.
The vaccine has been recommended by our doctors since August 2009 and consists of two initial innoculations three weeks apart, followed by an annual vaccination thereafter.
Please call us to schedule this important vaccination.
